Some projects the MCC is currently working on include:
Safer Equipment
The Good Gear Guide – This is a guide for riders when buying motorcycle gear, on how to choose clothing that will help to keep them safe. The project is an initiative of the Australian Motorcycle Council and is funded by the Federal Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. The Guide was released in September 2009.
Safer Roads
Local Government Outreach Program - This is an on going project where representatives of the MCC talk to Local Councils about motorcycle specific issues.
Safer People
Motorcycle Awareness Week - This year the major events will be ‘Breakfast Torque’, a safety awareness event held at Loftus Oval, Sutherland and the ‘Ride to Molong’.
Joint MAA & MCC Committee to make motorcycling safer
The Motor Accidents Authority of NSW and the MCC work together on this committee on a variety of initiatives to improve the safety of riders in NSW. Currently projects include revisions and reprinting of a number of motorcycle tourism and safety booklets:
- Motorcycling the Southern Way - A tourism brochure for motorcyclists on the Southern Highlands. Developed by Goulburn City Council, Wingecarribee Shire Council, Wollondilly Shire Council, Ulysses, Wollondilly Wanderers and MCC.
- Motorcycling in the Hunter Region - A regional guide to motorcycle safety - prepared by Cessnock City Council
- Motorcycling the Thunderbolts Way
- Motorcycle Safety in the Snowy Region. A project to improve the roads and rider safety in the Snowy region. (Tumbarumba and Tumut Councils, NSW Police, RTA, Ulysses, Cooma Alpine Tourers and MCC)
